It’s been a big year for Global Landcare. Here’s a round-up of what’s new.
Our website has a fresh new look
The Global Landcare website has had a refresh. Our aim was simple: fewer words, more photos, and an easier way to see the people and projects at the heart of Landcare around the world. The new site is cleaner, easier to read on a phone, and quicker to find your way around.
A few things to explore:
- Projects You’ve Funded: where the ALI Fund’s small grants have gone since 2013, including a summary of grants by year
- Landcare Around the World: a quick tour of Landcare in more than 20 countries, from Uganda to Japan to Jamaica
- Gift certificates: a new way to give in someone’s name
Since 2013, the Global Landcare Program has supported 264 projects in 27 countries, with AUD $621,880 in small grants for local Landcare groups. Thank you to everyone who has made that possible.
Welcome to our 2026/27 Board
Following our Annual General Meeting, we’re delighted to welcome four new Board members:
- William Kerua, Fiji, Associate Professor and Head of Agribusiness and Extension at Fiji National University, where he leads the Landcare Fiji project
- Leo Soares, Timor-Leste, a researcher and socio-ecological worker who works alongside local communities
- Te Ao o te Rangi Apaapa, New Zealand, Mātauranga Māori Facilitator with NZ Landcare Trust
- Arnold Parapi, Papua New Guinea, University of Papua New Guinea
They join our returning Board members from Australia, Bangladesh, Japan, New Zealand, Pakistan and Uganda. Nick Edgar continues as Chair, Shaikh Tanveer Hossain as Vice Chair, Darryl Ebenezer as Secretary and Clinton Muller as Treasurer.
We’d also like to thank Liddy Nevile and Solomoni Nagaunavou, who have stepped down from the Board, for their time and contribution.
Action Stories 2025
Every group that receives a Global Landcare small grant reports back with their story and photos. Our Action Stories 2025 page brings 19 of these stories together in one place, from tree growers on the slopes of Mt Elgon in Uganda to school food gardens, rooftop gardens in Pakistan, solar-powered water for farming families, and community groups restoring land in Africa, Asia, the Pacific and the Caribbean.
