Uganda Landcare Conference, November 2019

Australian Landcare International has a long standing relationship with the Uganda Landcare Network.

Landcare in Uganda is one of the key focuses for ALI’s Overseas Landcare Program and ALI was happy to support their conference with a sponsorship of $AUD 3,000.

The offer was always extended for the team from ALI to participate in the planning committee and assist the ULN as they prepared for the conference. Sponsorship for Uganda was used to cover the cost of a bus and accommodation from Kapchowa in Uganda. The attendees were part of the training in August 2018

ALI also provided $AUD 2,000 to support Landcare Facilitators and members to attend the conference – two from Kenya and Uganda. Total conference sponsorship: $AUD 5,000.

I met with Boniface from Machakos Landcare last week and he was sharing what a valuable experience it was for himself and Stephen to travel to Uganda and attend the conference. They have already started mobilizing schools and there are plans to go back to Uganda to gain more experience on Junior Landcare and bring it to Kenya .. so there are already follow on impacts of their attendance at the conference.
