Landcare Mentoring Program Starts
The Philippines have been a stronghold for Landcare for 15 years and AusAID and ACIAR programs have supported its development for the last ten years. Noel Vock has been the leader of those programs and reports that the latest component is a Mentoring Program in Australia for members of the Landcare Foundation of the Philippines (LFPI).
With the help of the Queensland branch of the Crawford Fund, five Filipinos are arriving in Brisbane to commence a pilot of the mentoring program with ten experienced Queensland Landcare members. Following a week of mentoring they will attend the Queensland Landcare Conference with follow up discussions with their mentors and key Landcare people from the conference.
The five LFPI members attending are CEO Ben Aspera, two senior project officers (Evy Elago and Rojo Balane), their Admin Manager (Emily Garcia) and a member of the LFPI Board of Trustees (Belen Daba).
Noel Vock will be monitoring the program with the expectation that a second stage of the mentoring Program will be carried out later.
